Tennessee Detail Supply was founded in 2024 by Jesse Lunsford. After spending over 2 decades traveling the World full time in the entertainment business. Jesse is an accomplished musician and singer, but he started traveling full time as a bus driver for entertainers in the gospel music industry with one of the top touring artists of all time, America's favorite family of gospel music, The Hoppers. After later stints with Triumphant Quartet, The Kingsmen, and Jason Crabb, Jesse made his first venture into secular music, joining Rhonda Vincent as her full time bus driver.
After some time with Rhonda he moved over to driving entertainers for companies that leased buses to the acts. This is where he flourished and became one of the top known names in the entire music and entertainment industry. Jesse has toured with Tim McGraw, Alabama, Lauryn Hill, The Black Eyed Peas, Reba McEntire, Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, and the list goes on and on.
After years of touring with different artists year after year, Jesse decided to settle back into a gig with one band. He joined NC based Bluegrass band, The Steep Canyon Rangers in 2017. This is where is really went crazy. The Rangers are the main backing band comedian/actor Steve Martin. About the time Jesse joined the Rangers, Steve was creating a brand new show. This show was going to be less music, more comedy, and would bring in Steve’s long time best friend, Martin Short.
Just a few months into this new tour, Jesse was offered an opportunity to do a short comedy skit on the show with Martin Short. After lots of rehearsal and teaching from 2 absolute comedy and acting legends, Jesse’s big night came in early 2017. The skit went off without a hitch and everyone was pleased with the results. The next week, while at home, Jesse received a phone call from Mr. Short’s management and was offered the acting part in the show, FULL TIME! Since then different skits have come and gone, Jesse has performed with both Mr. Martin and Mr. Short all over the World, but the original skit from 2017, is still in the show today in 2026. Jesse has performed comedy with Steve Martin and Martin Short at iconic venues such as the Greek Theater, the Hollywood Bowl, on Broadway, Red Rocks Amphitheater, in multiple nations and iconic cities. Jesse also appears on the Netflix adaptation of the Live show that was filmed in 2018 entitled “Steve Martin and Martin Short, A Night You’ll Forget for the Rest of Your Life” that was nominated for 4 Emmy awards.
Since being given the opportunity to act and being trained by some of the best, including training from legendary producer Frank Oz, Jesse has found his way into many more movies and television shows. At this point, he says he’s lost track of all that stuff, so he doesn’t really recall all of the television and movie appearances he has.
So, detail supplies, how did that happen? Well, you have to go back to his childhood. Jesse’s dad was an ardent collector of classic vehicles. He also had a deep passion for keeping his cars and trucks spotless, and he loved car shows! So from a very young age, Jesse was helping his dad detail cars. Then, after starting in the entertainer bus industry, he found out real quick, you NEVER arrive at a venue in a dirty bus! Whatever you do on the road, one of your main objectives is to always arrive in a clean bus. Over the years of cleaning buses weekly, sometimes multiple washes a week, Jesse became a lover of all things auto detailing.
Fast forward to 2024. After 2 decades of traveling full time, Jesse decided it was time to slow down the travel and attempt to live the good life, at HOME! After looking into multiple business opportunities, selling detail supplies just made sense. It was something he was passionate about, and there was no store anywhere within a couple hundred miles of home that sold high end detail supplies. So in October of 2024, Tennessee Detail Supply was born.
Jesse still travels with Steve Martin and Martin Short and plans to until they retire or just stop traveling and doing shows. They have been amazing to him, and he’s very dedicated to them both. He also handles all of the DOT compliance for several smaller entertainer bus companies and bus owners. He does that from the office at TNDS.
